Yandex Practicum
Yandex Practicum is an online school where people learn a new profession in IT. I was one of the first people on the team that created it.
For me it started with contract work: in 2017 and 2018 I came up with tasks for a new education service at Yandex. In May 2018 I joined full-time. At the start the project was an experiment for a team of fewer than ten people, with a simple idea: a school where anyone can change their profession.
In February 2019 the web development faculty launched and became the flagship product. I led its education department, the people who figured out how to teach web development and made the materials for it. Over 20 people worked in it: authors, editors, designers, developers, illustrators and QA.
Together with the authors we created the full course base on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, React and Node.js. It became the core of the web development courses that were later launched in several countries. I also wrote parts of the learning platform myself: the in-browser trainer, the student support logic, coding tasks and internal services.
In 2022 I wrote a new HTML and CSS course for people who work around the web, not only future developers. In 2023 and 2024, as a technical lead, I designed React, Next.js and Node.js courses for teenagers and led a team of technical experts. That line of courses was closed in June 2024, and it was the end of my six years there.
